International Women’s Day 2018 is using a #PressforProgress theme to help accelerate gender parity.

Leading property developer and care provider, Sanctuary Group, challenges female stereotypes and supports women to advance their careers.

Andrea Campbell, Project Manager with Sanctuary Homes, said: “I started in Sanctuary seven years ago as a Housing Assistant. I then went on to become a Housing Officer and then I moved into the Development team as a Project Manager.

“I haven’t encountered any issues with being a female in a mostly male environment. If anything it should encourage women to move into construction.

“There are various roles that they could undertake from being an apprentice to going up to management level to being site managers. We do have site managers that work for some of our contractors that are female and do a fantastic job.

“Everybody has totally accepted me regardless of the fact that I’m a woman. More women should be in construction.”

Offering a wide range of properties from contemporary apartments to family homes, Sanctuary Homes is focused on helping first time buyers get on to the property ladder.

Isabella Ferguson, National Head of Sales for Sanctuary Group, said: “If you believe that you want to do this and get into the construction industry then absolutely go for it.

“We encourage women to get involved.

“I have got a sales manager who has come into the industry, she joined Sanctuary recently. My sales negotiators who are predominantly women and they are keen to get more involved."
