Construction has started on nearly 60 new homes in the latest phase of the Orchard View development in Banbury.

Sanctuary Homes has invested £6.5million to deliver the properties at Bretch Hill, which will comprise a mix of family houses, apartments and bungalows, with the first expected to be ready as early as March 2019.

Eighteen of the homes will be available for local residents to purchase through shared ownership, while the other 39 will be for affordable rent.

In total, there will be 15 three-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom houses, 20 one-bedroom apartments and two two-bedroom bungalows, all due to be completed by the spring of 2021.

Being built by Bloor Homes, the properties form the second phase of development at Orchard View and follow on from Sanctuary’s £5m investment to deliver 61 properties through phase one of the development.

Phase one was completed in July this year and comprised 51 apartments specifically for over 55s as well as 10 houses for shared ownership.

Sanctuary is committed to providing much-needed housing across the country through its national development programme.

Mike Santon, Development Director – North, said: “These new homes will be a boost to the Banbury housing market at a time when they are most needed.

“It will enable both first-time buyers and families alike to get on the property ladder and have a place they can be proud to call home.”
