When Sharon Opie had the opportunity to move back to her home village of Goonhavern she jumped at the chance.

The 48-year-old mother-of-three had been living in nearby Newquay with her mum after getting divorced and couldn’t find a suitable home of her own.

Then Sharon discovered Sanctuary Homes’ Heritage Point development in Goonhavern while searching online and hasn’t looked back since, buying a three-bedroom property through Shared Ownership.

“I had looked at new builds in Newquay but they weren’t really what I was looking for and they never felt right,” Ms Opie said.

“I knew Shared Ownership was absolutely the right thing for me because as soon as I visited the site in Goonhavern it felt like home and it allowed me to move back to my roots.

“I am Cornish and grew up in Goonhavern on the Rose Meadows Estate where my uncle still lives. So Goonhavern is still very much home for me. I went to Goonhavern Primary School and still have school friends in the village.”

Sharon, who works in the sales team at a local car dealership, continued: “Heritage Point and my property have made my year. My property is situated in such a quiet spot and backs on to fields.

“It has such a spacious garden and to have a private drive big enough for two cars is quite a luxury. My neighbours are so friendly and it’s just a perfect spot.”

Sharon is delighted with her purchase through Sanctuary Homes and says she would recommend Shared Ownership to anyone as it has enabled her to buy a property she wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford.

She explained: “Shared Ownership has allowed me to get on the property ladder. I’m a single person with an 11-year-old daughter so it has enabled me to have my own home in such a beautiful area.

“Anybody looking at Shared Ownership should most definitely consider it, especially with Heritage Point due to the high spec of the homes. People will not be disappointed in a home at Heritage Point or indeed with Shared Ownership.”
