Residents are getting ready to move into their new homes following the construction of nearly 50 new properties in the South Yorkshire village of Thurnscoe.

Sanctuary Homes has been working with Keepmoat Homes on the £7.3 million development near Barnsley to ensure that the homes can be delivered.

All of the homes are for affordable rent and the first sets of keys have been handed over, with residents moving into the remaining homes during the next few months.

Built with grant funding from Homes England, there are 49 homes in total comprising 23 two-bedroom, 13 three-bedroom and four four-bedroom houses as well as nine two-bedroom bungalows.

Tim Wray, Sanctuary’s Assistant Development Manager, said: “Being able to provide homes for the people who need them has never been more important so we are delighted to welcome the first new residents.

“The homes are a much-needed addition to the area and will also help to address the current housing crisis.”
