We are pleased to announce that Sanctuary Homes, through Sanctuary Scotland have been recognised at this year’s annual Homes for Scotland Awards for our work on three new build developments.

The developments that were singled out for praise were at Wellmeadow Street in Paisley, Newfield Square in Glasgow and partnership development at Love Street, also in Paisley.

In the category of Development of the Year – Medium, Sanctuary Homes was awarded for the redevelopment of a former supermarket site into desirable homes that blended in aesthetically to create 32 new homes. The Wellmeadow Street development also reintroduced local allotment space to benefit the community, while its design was also commended.

This development, Love Street saw 132 new homes built and many sold through the Scottish Government’s New Supply Shared Equity (NSSE) scheme. The scheme enables first-time buyers to own an eligible property by taking a stake from 60 to 80 per cent with the remaining cost covered by an interest-free government loan, repaid when the property is sold. As well as new housing, Sanctuary Homes also built a play area and created an open space for the new Love Street community.

Meanwhile, the transformation of a once derelict site in Glasgow’s Craigbank district rounded out a double award in the category, our third highlight of the awards, with the spotlight falling on the Newfield Square development. Once hosting tenements and a bowling green the site lay derelict for fifteen years before it was transformed into 178 properties, including social housing and homes available to buy through the Scottish Government’s New Supply Shared Equity (NSSE) scheme.

Sanctuary Homes are incredibly proud to have been recognised by the panel at Homes for Scotland, through our Sanctuary Scotland membership and we are committed to our mission of building affordable homes and sustainable communities where people choose to live.
